Merry Christmas!

We just want to wish all of our friends and family a very Merry Christmas! Unfortunately, with our very busy December schedule and a baby due in a week and a half, we didn't get to send out Christmas cards this year, but I figure I have a good excuse.

We spent the holidays with my family in Orem and had a great time. On Christmas Eve we went out to dinner to celebrate my mom's birthday (December 25th). We went to Mi Ranchito and our waiter's name was Jesus. We thought that was very fitting. Then we went back to my parents' house and had a Christmas eve program with stories, music and even a life nativity.

Then we had Israel's family over for the traditional latin Christmas celebration at midnight. We had a big turkey dinner and opened presents at midnight. Then we had Peruvian hot chocolate and panettonne (an Italian Christmas bread, traditional in Peru). We were happy that Israel's uncle Juan was able to spend Christmas with us (he was visiting from Maryland). At 4:30 am Israel's brother Pablo's car got stuck in a snowbank and we spent 30 minutes trying to pull it out. Then as we were driving to my parents' house in Orem at 5:00 am, the thermostat in our Saturn went out and we had to turn back and switch cars. We drove on the freeway covered in 2-3 inches of snow and had to go about 20 mph the whole way. It was a Christmas Eve to remember.

Later that Christmas morning, we woke up around 9:30 am to celebrate Christmas morning the traditional way...stockings, Christmas breakfast and presents. We also celebrated my mom's birthday with presents and we put a candle on a frosted sugar cookie this year instead of having cake. Israel and I slept for most of the rest of the day and then we had a big turkey dinner and watched a movie before going to bed.

We are so thankful for all of you and we love you all! We hope you had a great Christmas and that you were able to be with the ones you love.

We will keep everyone posted on any baby news.
